Tilt-up Wall Panels
Tilt-up Wall Panels
Chances are that every type of building material will need some sort of repair during their lifetimes. Several incidences, such as bad construction, movement of the materials and normal wear and tear can cause materials to deteriorate and need repair. Masonry may need re-pointing, the ground may need grouting, and foundations may need cracks fixed. Tilt-up wall panels are no exception. These concrete panels can be subject to cracking, displacement and moisture intrusion. The protective measures used on the panels may fail, and if not replaced in a timely manner, could cause damage to the materials. The joints between panels will also have to be maintained on a regular basis.
Whatever the cause of damage to wall panels, repair needs to be done on a timely basis. It also needs to be done efficiently and properly to keep down costs and prevent future damage from occurring. Of course, proper maintenance of the wall and joints can help prevent extensive damage from happening in the first place. Joint sealant should be replaced as determined by the manufacturer, as should any protection layer that has been put on the concrete. However, when the time comes to repair a wall panel, a professional contractor should be called to deal with the issue and to help prevent another issue from reoccurring.
