Cement Grouting

Cement Grouting

There are several types of grout available for use in Southern California, and each of them is suited for a different application.  One example is cement grouting.  Under the supervision of the proper professional, cement grout can be of invaluable use in strengthening the ground beneath a building.  Among cement grouts, there are also several sub-classifications, and, of course, each of these is best suited to a different application.  Some considerations to think about when deciding on the type of cement to use in grouting include the contents of the ground water and how fast the cement needs to set and strengthen.

Portland cement is usually the type of cement used in cement grouts and can come in one of several types.  Some of these cement grout types are general purpose, while others are better suited for use with soil and groundwater containing sulfates.  Others are prized for their strength gain and others for their finer grain.  A professional contractor called to the job will be able to look at the repair work to be done and decide which, if any, cement grout needs to be used.  Then he can go about choosing the best method to getting that grout into the ground where it can properly do its work.
