The appropriate application for any coating is important, but it may be even more so for chemically resistant coatings.  This is because these coatings may be hazardous when they are being applied.  Therefore, if necessary, the appropriate clothing and gear should be used.  It is also best to make sure a seasoned professional is applying the coating in order to make sure it is being applied properly.  The last thing one wants is a layer of coating that fails prematurely.  Therefore, choose your contractor wisely and make sure he is knowledgeable in his field.  That way, you can be more secure in knowing a competent person is handling the job.
